Logitech Internet Navigator Review
In the Box:
The box includes the keyboard, a usb to ps/2 adapter, and a driver cd.
The Keyboard:
The keyboard is well
put together. It all white, except for trim on the sides and palmrest which is
more of dark blue. On the left hand side there is a scroll wheel, back button,
and a go button that opens an address box. The scroll wheel is nice and
comfortable to use. By pressing it, you can open up a menu that gives other
options for what the scroll wheel does, like control volume, go through your
documents folder, and stuff like that. The back button is a nice feature. The go
button is a good way to quickly open up a website or a folder on your computer.
Along the top the keyboard there are 9 buttons that can be used to launch programs, a button that shuts down your system, and a bunch of media controls. The 9 buttons are pre-setup to launch different websites, but all of that can be changed in the software. The shutdown button is nice, but rather single-purpose. It would be nice if it could be configured to put the system into standby, instead of opening up a dialog. The Media area is well thought out. There are buttons to raise, lower, and mute the volume. They are nice and large, making them easy to hit when you want to, and because they are at the top of the keyboard, they can't be hit accidentally. There is a media button, that opens up a small menu that allows you pick which media program you want to launch. Finally, there are playback controls that let you start and stop playing the current song, and skip to the next or previous ones.
The palmrest is good for keeping your hands a bit more level. If you don't like it, you can pop it off. Be warned that the tabs that hold in place break very easily. The keys have a nice touch in that they are labeled on the front of them what they do if you hit control and them at the same time. Now all they need is to label them with what happens if the windows key is hit with them. The keys also have good feedback, and don't feel as spongy as some of logitech's other keyboards.
The Software:
The software is decent. It is very simple to set up what you want the keys to do. However, there are some major issues with it. Unless you turn it off, every time you hit one of the special buttons on the keyboard it opens up an oncreen display. This means if you try to change the volume during a game, it will bring your game to a standstill for a few seconds. The onscreen displays can be turned off, but it is one more step that you must do.
Conclusion:
This is a very good keyboard. I have had it now for over 3 years, and it still works as good as it did when I got it.
